Hats to Homes
A creative journey from fashion and movement to wellness-informed interior design
Hats to Homes tells the story behind OLEILU — a creative path shaped by years in fashion and editorial styling, a deep study of movement and the nervous system through yoga, and a belief that our homes should support how we live and feel.
What began with materials, proportion, and visual storytelling evolved into a practice rooted in calm, intention, and care — designing spaces that feel as considered as they are beautiful.

Material Sensibility
My foundation in fashion and editorial styling shaped how I see the world — through texture, proportion, light, and movement. Working with garments, soft goods, and visual narratives trained my eye to notice how materials behave, how they interact with the body, and how small details change the way something is experienced.
That sensitivity to material and form became the backbone of my design approach. Long before interiors, I was studying how things drape, how they hold weight, and how they feel in use — lessons that continue to inform every space I design.
Movement, Yoga & Nervous System Awareness
My study and teaching of yoga deepened my understanding of how the nervous system responds to environment, pace, and sensory input. Through movement, breath, and stillness, I learned how subtle shifts — in light, sound, texture, and flow — can either support regulation or create stress.
This awareness fundamentally shaped how I approach design. Rather than focusing solely on aesthetics, I consider how a space is experienced in the body — how it invites rest, supports focus, and allows for ease. Design, at its best, becomes a form of quiet support, helping people feel grounded and at home within themselves.

Homes as Integration
In practice, this work shows up in the details. Layouts are designed to support ease and flow rather than visual impact alone. Lighting is layered with care, responding to how it shifts throughout the day. Materials are chosen not just for beauty, but for how they feel, age, and support daily life.
We pay close attention to sound, softness, and rhythm — where a space asks for quiet, where it invites connection, and where it allows for retreat. The result is a home that feels grounded and intuitive, supporting both rest and engagement without overstimulation.
This approach has been shaped and tested through years of hands-on residential work. For over seven years, I’ve served as Lead Interior Designer at Kevin Reiner Design, leading large-scale renovations and new builds primarily in Ohio, with select projects in South Carolina, Texas, New York, and Kentucky — from early concept through installation. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside highly skilled designers, artisans, and builders, learning firsthand what it takes to execute thoughtful work at the highest level. That experience continues to inform how I balance vision with execution, and beauty with real-world function.
